Welcome to PORCH Governors Club!
Governors Club is a gated community located in the Northeast section of Chatham County and built around a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. GC was one of the original neighborhoods to hold monthly PORCH collections to benefit CORA Food Pantry, and this effort is supported by the Governors Club Property Owners Association. Many people from our community also volunteer at CORA, doing tasks like helping clients pick out food, stocking shelves, and delivering donated food from our local grocery stores.
How PORCH Works
PORCH is built around the very simple idea of a neighborhood food drive. Here’s how it works, in three easy steps:
Once a month, on the second Wednesday of the month, residents place a food donation of non-perishable food items and or checks in a collection bin in their neighborhood. The bin will be out from Monday to Wednesday of that week.
A volunteer neighborhood coordinator picks up the donations in the bin and delivers them to CORA Food Pantry in Pittsboro.
Reminder e-mails are sent out a few days before collection time so you won’t forget where the bins are.
We collect in the following neighborhoods.
- First Mountain
- Glenn Glade/Franklin Ridge
- Governors Square
- Highland Park/Lower Cherry
- Lower Morehead
- Morehead Forest/East Morehead
- Stone Brook
- Tryon Court
- Upper Governors Drive
- Walker Falls
- Wilkinson Park
If you don’t see your neighborhood listed, we would love to add you to our list! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
100% of our individual donations go to the CORA Food Pantry.
